A mare lies curled upon a hill of flowers, her dusty brown mane shivering in the slight breeze that blows from north to south. She looks over the island upon which she sits, gazing out to sea. You stand behind her. You are curious why she has not spooked at your presence...any normal horse would be long gone now. You walk silently up to her side and look at her out of the corner of your eye. You can't see her very well through your forelock, but you're afraid that if you toss your head it will startle her.

She looks up at you with a quick jerk of her head, and it's you who spooks. She smiles slightly as you shiver away your fear. "Cold?" The mare asks, then flicks her ears. The breeze dies down immediately and the sun shines more brightly, baking your hindquarters in a sudden onslaught of boiling heat. You shift away from her a bit, trying not to be rude but really wanting to get away from her. You aren't curious...you're scared.

She notices your fear, whether by scent or sight you can't tell. "It's not me you need to be afraid of," she chuckles "you should really be scared of what's coming for you next. That's why Vece and I left, you know. He foresaw it, and with all his nastiness even he doesn't want to forefit his homeland."

Your eyes widen as you listen to her words. Vece? Could she be telling the truth? Could it be true that this odd mare left with the god Vece to see the future? You can't believe it...the Royals are nothing but an island legend, and yet here's a mare claiming that she's been away with one herself. Could it be?

And what's coming for you? You turn to ask the strange fey, but there's nothing there but the waving grass. Even the weather's back to what it was...your back is no longer soaking in the too-hot rays of the sun. Will you find her?
